Logos Missions, which operates the Christian Mutual Med-Aid (CMM), will establish a Korean health examination center in Cerritos, California. The SL Christian Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Logos Missions, plans to provide Korean-style health screening services in Southern California, where many CMM members reside.

According to CMM and Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, SL Foundation Chairman Dowon Park and Logos Missions Vice Chairman Induk Park signed an advisory agreement to establish a Korean-style medical health examination center in Los Angeles County on April 29.

Previously, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in July 2023 to promote the project of establishing a Korean-style health screening center in the United States.

Under the agreement, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital will dispatch an expert advisory team to the Los Angeles area. The advisory team will provide manpower, equipment, systems, and training necessary for the establishment and operation of the new health screening center.

In addition, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and Seoul National University Hospital will support the successful establishment of the SL Foundation’s health screening center and establish a referral system for patients from the U.S., including Southern California, who wish to visit Korea for medical treatment and specialized checkups.

Chicago-based Logos Missions has been operating CMM for more than 20 years, providing medical expense assistance to its members.

To expand its medical services, it acquired an office building in Cerritos last November for $31.6 million. The building will be remodeled into a 40,000-square-foot Korean-style health screening center.

The center is expected to open in 2025. Members of the CMM in the Los Angeles area will be able to use the Korean one-stop health checkup service.

“We will give a detailed explanation of the Korean-style health checkup center through an official press release on May 8,” Kyungmi Koh, head of public relations at the CMM, told the Korea Daily.

“We will contribute to helping Korean Americans prevent diseases in a timely manner and enjoy a healthy life through an advanced Korean-style health checkup center,” said Dr. Junghan Song, president of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital.

Chairman of the SL Foundation, Dowun Park said, “We are pleased to partner with Seoul National University Hospital to establish the first Korean health screening center in the United States. It will also be a privilege to receive treatment at Seoul National University Hospital, which is known for its excellent medical care.”

The screening center will be operated by the SL Preventive Medical Center, which has completed its corporate registration.
