Korean LASD Veteran Deputy Dies in a Fatal Car Accident

A Korean Deputy from the Sheriff Bureau of LA County died in a car accident.

According to the LA County Sheriff Bureau, Steve Lim (photo), a Korean LASD detective, died in a car accident on Vermont Avenue and West Carson Street in the Torrance area around 10 p.m. on the 15th.

According to the sheriff’s department, the car crash occurred due fatal traffic collision while returning home from work. Detective Lim was taken to a hospital by paramedics where he was announced dead.

“There was a health-related emergency while he was driving,” the sheriff’s department said. “The accident occurred near the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.”

So far, no details about the emergency are known, and there have been no collisions with other vehicles nor casualties.

Sheriff’s spokesman Robert Luna said in a statement, “The news of his sudden death shocked the Sheriff’s department. Detective Steve Lim was a 26-year old veteran of child abuse and sexual assault cases.”

Detective Lim is known to have his wife and five children, as well as his parents and sister.
