Park Chan-wook’s “Decision to Leave” was selected as the ninth-best movie this year by The Guardian.

The British daily newspaper announced Thursday a list of the top 50 movies that have been released in theaters in the United States.

The article describes “Decision to Leave” as a “sensational black-widow noir” and notes lead actor Tang Wei to be “superbly charismatic, bringing a live-wire energy and chemistry to her relationship with her leading man [actor Park Hae-il].”

The film is also described as “Hitchcockian” with “showstopping emotional confrontations” and “manipulative” plot twists.

Hirokazu Kore-eda’s film “Broker” was No. 49 on the list. It features a star-studded lineup of actors like Song Kang-ho, Kang Dong-won, and IU.

“Decision to Leave” follows police detective Hae-jun, portrayed by Park Hae-il, who begins to fall for a suspect: a Chinese widow named Seo-rae, portrayed by Tang Wei. The pair meet after Hae-jun begins to investigate the mysterious death of a man — Seo-rae’s husband — who was found dead after falling from a mountain.
