A 75-year-old former South Korean Marine is making headlines after he fought off robbers who burst into his home suddenly, sending them running.

Surveillance video from the garage of the victim’s home shows the Korean-American man arriving home and closing the back door of his car when two men suddenly approach him and spray pepper spray in his face.

The Korean-American man, believed to be a senior, appears to be taken aback by the suddenness of the incident and takes a few steps back. However, he then begins to actively punch the suspected robbers.

Surprised by the unexpected reaction, the robbers immediately run away, followed by the surrounding neighbors.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, in the garage of a home in the 1000 block of West Las Palmas in Fullerton.

According to the police investigation, the man and his wife were returning home from church and Home Depot that day.

However, they were followed by a trio of robbers, two of whom approached the man and pepper-sprayed him in an attempted robbery.

The case is being investigated by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Walnut Division. A similar incident occurred recently in Lowland Heights and is also being investigated for possible connections.

The victim in the Lowland Heights case was also reportedly an 80-year-old senior.
