Uber has officially launched a simplified rideshare app experience designed for senior users across the United States.
Following a pilot program in Phoenix and Orlando in May, the company expanded its new “Senior Account” feature nationwide on June 4. The feature is integrated into Uber’s existing Family Profile and tailored to meet the needs of older adults.

Designed for ease of use
The senior version of the app includes a simplified screen layout with larger font sizes and fewer on-screen buttons. Users can also save frequently visited destinations—like home, the doctor’s office, or grocery stores—so they can call a ride with just a tap, without re-entering addresses each time.
Family members linked to the account can assist with booking rides, modifying settings, and tracking trip progress in real time. They can also communicate directly with the driver on behalf of the senior rider.
Briana Gilmore, head of global accessibility policy at Uber, said, “Transportation is one of the biggest barriers to independence as people age. We want to help seniors stay connected to healthcare, groceries, pharmacies, and their families.”
Optional simplified mode
Alongside the senior account option, Uber also introduced a new “Simple Mode” interface. This optional feature is aimed at first-time users who are older adults and can be activated directly through account settings. It retains all core safety and functionality features but presents them in a cleaner, more accessible design.
Meanwhile, competitor Lyft has reportedly begun trialing a similar simplified experience for seniors, called Lyft Silver, around the same time.
