Former President Donald Trump endorsed Korean-American Rep. Michelle Steel (D-CA) on October 26, praising her as one of the nation’s “strongest Congresswomen” and a “tremendous Champion.”
“Michelle Steel has my Complete and Total Endorsement – SHE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.
He added, “An America First Patriot whose family bravely fled communism, Michelle brings that same fighting spirit to Congress, and will never back down against the Communists, Marxists, and Socialists on the Radical Left.
Steel, an immigrant to the U.S., was born in South Korea, but raised in Japan.
“Michelle is working hard to restore the American dream, grow our economy, secure our border, support our great military/vets, and protect our always under siege Second Amendment,” he wrote.
Trump also call her opponent Derek Tran a “WEAK opponent,” and a “Radical Left Puppet of Communist China.”
He argued, “Tran will put our country and safety last. Michelle, on the other hand, will always put California, and America, first.”
Meanwhile, Rep. Steel’s 45th District, which includes areas such as Fullerton, Brea, and Buena Park in Orange County, has an Asian population comprising 38% of the total.
