Trader Joe’s expanded its lineup of frozen Korean food with newly debuted frozen beef bulgogi following the success of its frozen kimbap, which recently caused a shopping spree among American grocery shoppers.
Priced at $12.99 for a three-serving package, the frozen beef bulgogi can be prepared and ready to eat in just four to five minutes in the microwave.
On its website, the grocery chain describes the Korean-style prepared meal as “Especially good over fluffy white rice. Try it alongside a refreshing green salad, some roasted baby broccoli, or one of our many Korean and Korean-inspired side dishes like japchae, and kimchi.”
Trader Joe’s is a national grocery chain with more than 540 stores in 43 states, and offers a variety of Korean foods, including hotteok and tteokbokki. Trader Joe’s is expecting the addition of beef bulgogi to be another mega-hit after frozen kimbap.
The frozen kimbap, which became a national headline, is made by Allgot, a startup food company based in Gumi, North Gyeongsang, Korea. Its initial batch of 250 tons, amounting to hundreds of thousands of kimbap, quickly sold out within a month after a TikTok video reviewing the product went viral on social media. The product is priced at $3.99.
