Tomorrow X Together, NewJeans to perform at Lollapalooza 2023 in Chicago

Boy band Tomorrow X Together [BIGHIT MUSIC]

Boy band Tomorrow X Together and girl group NewJeans will perform at the Lollapalooza 2023 festival in Chicago this summer.

The boy band will be headlining alongside renowned artists including Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Odesza, Lana Del Rey, Karol G and The 1975, according to the festival lineup announced by Lollapalooza on Tuesday.

It will be the second time for Tomorrow X Together to perform at the festival after first performing last year, and the first time for the band to headline the festival.

This will be the first U.S. performance for the rookie girl group NewJeans.

Lollapalooza is a four-day music festival held yearly since 1991 in Chicago’s Grand Park. This year, the festival will take place on Aug. 3 to 6. In 2022, J-Hope from the boy band BTS became the first Korean artist ever to take to the main stage in a music festival.

The five-member band Tomorrow X Together — Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai — debuted in 2019 and is best known for hits such as “Crown” (2019), “Blue Hour” (2020) and “Good Boy Gone Bad” (2022). Prior to the festival in August, boy band will visit six cities in the United States as a part of their second world tour, “Act: Sweet Mirage,” starting on May 9 in Belmont Park.

Girl group NewJeans, with members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, debuted in 2022 under HYBE’s new label ADOR led by the former creative director of SM Entertainment, Min Hee-jin. NewJeans stormed the global K-pop scene with successive hits, such as “Attention,” “Hybe Boy,” “Ditto” and “OMG.” While the girl group has yet to make its official debut in the United States, “Ditto” and “OMG” both stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart for five and six weeks in a row, respectively.
