California storm victims now have until May 15, 2023, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the Internal Revenue Service announced today.

The IRS announced that the residents of the disaster-stricken area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are offered tax relief.

The tax relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred starting on January 8, 2023. As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until May 15, 2023, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period.

This is a month longer than the original tax reporting deadline. If you have any taxes to pay in addition to the tax report, you can also pay them by May 15.

The designated areas in Southern California include Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego counties.

Areas where tax relief benefits are available can be found on the disaster relief page on the National Tax Service website (IRS.gov).
