Portable Power Banks Recalled Over Overheating, Fire Risk

INIU model sold on Amazon linked to multiple fire incidents; consumers urged to stop use immediately

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 210,000 portable lithium-ion power banks sold on Amazon due to risks of overheating and fire.

The recall involves the INIU 100,000mAh portable power bank (model BI-B41), which was sold on Amazon between August 2021 and April 2022. The device comes in black or blue, and features the INIU logo and a paw-print LED indicator on the front.

According to the CPSC, the power bank poses a significant safety hazard. The manufacturer has received at least 15 reports of the device overheating, including 11 reports of fires that resulted in minor burn injuries and property damage.

The recall specifically covers units with the following serial numbers:
000G21, 000H21, 000I21, 000L21

Both CPSC and INIU are urging consumers to immediately stop using the product. Customers can check their device’s serial number and request a full refund through INIU’s recall page on its website.
