More than 2,000 coordinated demonstrations are scheduled to take place across the United States on June 14, as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protests aimed at countering a military parade backed by former President Donald Trump.

The protests are being organized under the “50501 Movement” — 50 states, 50 protests, one movement — with the support of multiple organizations, including the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Black Voters Matter, People’s Action Network, and Social Security Works. Organizers said the event is meant to send a message that “this country is not ruled by a king” and to call for national unity in defense of democracy.
