NewJeans will be performing at the Billboard Music Awards 2023 (BBMAs 2023) in Las Vegas on Nov. 19, becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform in one of the biggest music awards in the United States.
The five-member girl group will perform its hits “Super Shy” and “OMG,” according to the band’s agency ADOR.
They both entered the Billboard Hot 100 this year.
NewJeans will be the second K-pop group to take the BBMAs stage after boy band BTS.
NewJeans is the most nominated K-pop artist in the BBMAs this year, with five nominations. It has been nominated for Top Billboard Global Artist (Excl. U.S.), Top Global K-pop Artist, Top Global K-pop Song and twice for Top K-pop Album.
NewJeans’s BBMAs performance debut comes just one year and three months after its debut in July 2022, setting a record as the first K-pop girl group and the fastest K-pop artist to achieve the milestone.
NewJeans has been one of the biggest names in K-pop since its debut last year with the EP “New Jeans.” Its hits “Ditto” (2022), “OMG” and “Hype boy” (2022) were the three most-streamed and downloaded songs in the first half of 2023.
NewJeans is the third performer to be announced, following Peso Pluma and Bebe Rexha & David Guetta.
