Largest IMAX Screen in World Opens in Korea

The largest IMAX screen in the world has just opened in Seoul, Korea.

At the staggering dimensions of 31 by 22.4 meters, the IMAX screen dwarfs that of a typical cinema, and has nearly double the area of an average IMAX screen. While there were some slightly larger Australian IMAX theaters, those theaters are currently not in operation.

The IMAX screen is part of a larger multiplex owned and operated by CGV cinemas, a major Korean cinema chain. It is located near the Yongsan U.S. military base, in Seoul.

In the same multiplex, one screen has been dedicated to Park Chan-wook, director of the film Oldboy.
