LA Metro to provide free bus and train rides on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve

During the holidays, public transportation in the Los Angeles area will be available for free at specific times.

From 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve (December 24) until 2 a.m. on Christmas Day (December 25), and again from 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve (December 31) to 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day, LA Metro will offer complimentary rides on buses, trains, and other services in the LA area.

“We’ve offered the free rides for several years in an effort to help Angelenos travel safely during the holidays and avoid holiday gridlock, parking costs, and hassles,” stated LA Metro.

Additionally, the “Metro Micro” service, which provides rides to Metro train and bus stations for those living far from these locations, can be accessed for free by downloading an app. Users should enter the Christmas Eve code (merry23) and the New Year’s Eve code (ring24) to utilize this service.

Metro’s bike share program will also offer free 30-minute rides on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Users can take advantage of this offer by entering the code (010124). More information is available on the website: bikeshare.metro.net.
