LA Metro D Line Reopens After 2-Month Closure, Ahead of Beverly Hills Expansion

The LA Metro D Line will reopen on Saturday morning after a two-month closure that began on May 17, allowing for major construction work to connect the existing subway with a new extension into Beverly Hills.

Crews upgraded communication and power systems to prepare for the nearly four-mile expansion. The D Line, which currently runs between Wilshire/Western Station in Koreatown and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, will soon add new stations along Wilshire Boulevard.

According to KTLA, most of the work on the 2025 Beverly Hills segment is complete. The extension is expected to open in the fall, though no exact date has been announced.

During the closure, riders used a bus bridge while the Metro B Line ran more frequently to help cover demand.

Once completed, the expanded D Line will connect major business and retail hubs in West LA, becoming one of the busiest subway lines in the Metro system.
