“This is the time to get Yoo on the City Council.”

Grace Yoo’s campaign for Los Angeles City Council District 10 held its first fundraiser at a restaurant in Koreatown on May 23. As the candidate’s campaign looks ahead to the November general election, the event drew more than 150 attendees, including former LA City Councilmember Jan Perry, ABC Unified School District Vice President Ernie Nishii, and other prominent members of the Korean-American community, who shared their views on Yoo’s candidacy.

“Yoo is not just a political candidate, but a loyal public servant who will work for the people,” said Perry, emphasizing the need for her on the City Council during times of anomalies and corruption. He urged supporters, “This is the time we should help Yoo now in the early stages of the runoff.”

Nishii echoed Perry’s sentiments, stating, “If we know that we need common sense and basic ethics on the City Council, we need to elect Yoo to District 10. If you believe this is our most urgent need, please support her with your time, money, and passion.”

Yoo addressed the crowd, expressing her concerns about the City Council’s current challenges. “The City Council does not seem to be able to solve many of the current problems,” she said. “If the council is not expanded and replaced soon, it will end up being more difficult for everyone.”

She also highlighted the importance of better resource allocation, noting, “The appointed District 10 council member recently boasted of giving $100,000 to the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles. There are at least 40 million dollars available for the residents. We need to assert our rights more.”

The fundraiser also saw the participation of volunteers supporting Yoo’s campaign and elders from the Korean-American community.
