A Koreatown dentist has been convicted of sexually assaulting six women, including patients and a dental extern, at clinics in Koreatown and Panorama City.
Emad Fathy Moawad, 54, was found guilty of 11 felony counts, including sexual battery by restraint and forcible sexual penetration, as well as one misdemeanor count. The assaults occurred between 2013 and 2020, involving victims aged 19 to 73.
Jurors deliberated just over three hours before returning the verdict. Moawad was immediately remanded without bail. Sentencing is scheduled for September 19 before Judge George G. Lomeli at the Criminal Courts Building in downtown Los Angeles. He faces life in prison and lifetime sex offender registration.
Prosecutors described a “reign of terror”, noting some victims felt dizzy after anesthesia. Moawad testified in his defense. A previous jury deadlocked last year.
