A meaningful celebration was held at LA Adult Day Health Care Center in Koreatown, on August 15, honoring Seok-Hee Kim on her 100th birthday. This koreatown centenarian birthday brought together family, friends, and fellow members of the center.

More than 70 people gathered to mark the occasion. Despite her hearing difficulties, Seok-Hee Kim smiled throughout the event as she looked at her family who had come to celebrate her centennial.
The gathering united four generations. Her eldest daughter, Kye-Young Lee (72), said, “My mother shows by action rather than words. Even now at 100, she makes sure to exercise for an hour every morning.”
Seok-Hee Kim currently lives with her youngest daughter, age 62, in a senior apartment in Los Angeles. Her eldest son-in-law, Man-Yeol Lee (72), remarked, “Since my mother-in-law is 100, both the mother and the daughter are seniors. Longevity can lead to moments like this, which are quite amusing.”
Her great-grandson, Noah (9), gave her the nickname “Pearl,” comparing her white hair to a pearl and saying she shines as beautifully as one.
Among the attendees was Jae-Young Choi (96), who calls Seok-Hee Kim her “older sister.” Choi said, “I have four years left until I become the star of a 100th birthday celebration myself. Seeing her today makes me envious, but it also gives me courage to hold on until then.”
