Three Korean restaurants have been named among the world’s best restaurants of 2025, according to the prestigious annual list released by British culinary magazine Restaurant on June 19.
Atomix, a fine dining Korean restaurant in New York City, ranked 12th, making it the highest-ranked Korean restaurant on the list. Two restaurants in Seoul—Mingles in Gangnam and Onjium in Jongno—ranked 29th and 57th, respectively.
Atomix, which holds two Michelin stars, was the only restaurant in the United States to break into the top 50. The magazine praised it as “a refined, flavorful, and innovative Korean restaurant rooted in tradition.” Operated by husband-and-wife team Junghyun Park and Ellia Park, Atomix was also recently honored with the James Beard Award for Outstanding Hospitality on June 16.
Mingles, led by chef Mingoo Kang, received praise as “the perfect place to experience transformed local ingredients, from acorn jelly to bellflower root.” Mingles climbed from 44th last year.
Onjium, a restaurant and culinary research institute, serves Korean cuisine inspired by Joseon dynasty royal court food. It has received one Michelin star and was recognized for “continuing the deep traditions of Korean food.”
Topping the 2025 list was Maido, a Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant in Lima, Peru, which moved up from 5th place last year.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles failed to place a single restaurant in the top 100, a disappointing showing for the city’s dining scene.
In total, four restaurants based in the United States made the list: Atomix, Le Bernardin, and Cezanne in New York, and Atelier Crenn in San Francisco.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, launched in 2002, is compiled from votes by 1,080 experts from 27 regions around the world. Each regional panel consists of 40 members with firsthand dining experience. The 2025 award ceremony was held in Turin, Italy, on June 19.
