Korean American Woman Shot by Stray Bullet in Virginia Home

A Korean American woman was shot and killed after being struck by a stray bullet inside her home in Fairfax County, Virginia.

According to the Fairfax County Police Department, the shooting occurred at about 3:35 p.m. on the 26th in the Legato area on Dering Lane. Jennifer Kim (30) was found with a gunshot wound and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the bullet was accidentally fired by Richard Huynh (31), an Asian man who lived on the third floor of the same house. He discharged the firearm while placing it in a storage case. At the time, Kim was on the second floor, where the bullet pierced the floor and fatally struck her.

Officers arrested Huynh at the scene. He was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm in a building and booked into the Fairfax County Jail without bond.
