A man in his 30s, who is believed to be a Korean American, was fatally shot during an argument that escalated into violence.
According to court records and local media, 25-year-old Rastan Brown-Castro has been charged with second-degree murder and firearms offenses for the shooting of 31-year-old Cheylo Chong Kim on the morning of August 6 at the Waianae Boat Harbor in Oahu, Hawai’i.
Authorities reported that around 10:30 a.m., the two men were involved in a verbal dispute at the harbor. The situation rapidly intensified when Brown-Castro allegedly shot Kim multiple times. Kim was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m.

Following the shooting, Brown-Castro fled the scene. Hawaii Police spotted his vehicle and tried to pull him over, but he accelerated away. The chase ended when Brown-Castro’s vehicle crashed and came to a halt.
He then ran on foot to a nearby beach park, where he was eventually detained.
The court set Brown-Castro’s at $1,000,000.
