Korean American man in his 30s arrested for killing his mother in Virginia

A Korean American man in his 30s has been arrested in Virginia for allegedly assaulting his mother, leading to her death.

On November 8, the Fairfax County Police Department announced that they had arrested John Kim, a 39-year-old Korean American man, on charges of second-degree murder.

According to police, a death report was filed around 9:40 a.m. on November 7 from the 6300 block of Lincolnia Road in Fairfax County. Officers arrived at the scene to find a woman with fatal trauma to her upper body. The victim was later identified as 75-year-old Myung Kim.

Police named John Kim, the deceased woman’s son who was present at the scene, as a suspect in her death and arrested him. He is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Detention Center.

The police department reported that they are questioning John Kim to determine the motive and method of the crime, while also gathering evidence, including CCTV footage from the area.
