A 63-year-old Korean American man was arrested last week after allegedly filming another gym member in a shower stall at an LA Fitness center in Duluth, Georgia.

According to the Duluth Police Department, Mangeun Lee was taken into custody on July 10 at approximately 12:30 p.m. after a male gym member reported seeing a cell phone slide under his shower curtain at the LA Fitness on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. Police said the victim immediately confronted Lee and contacted authorities.
When officers arrived, body camera footage captured Lee admitting to the act. “He taking a shower, I tried to take a video under the bottom,” Lee told police at the scene.
Police confirmed that Lee handed over his phone, which contained videos and photos of the victim. He was arrested on the spot for felony unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance, a violation of Georgia’s privacy protection laws.
While being questioned, Lee admitted to deleting the video. However, officers said he attempted to erase additional files during the interview. “You’re deleting your pictures?” an officer is heard asking in the body camera recording.
At the police station, officers discovered a second cell phone among Lee’s belongings. Investigators obtained a search warrant for both phones to recover any potentially deleted or hidden content.
Lee was charged and detained with bail set at $20,000. Police believe further illegal recordings may be stored on the second device.
Members of the gym expressed shock at the incident, noting that the facility clearly displays signs prohibiting photography or video recording. “No taking pictures, no taking videos, nothing like that. So it’s crazy that someone is actually recording,” said gym member Yasmin Guevara.
The investigation is ongoing.
