The first K-pop mixset produced through a collaboration between the Korea Daily and Cachaus has been released.

At 6 p.m. on September 25, the initial episode of the K-pop mixset series, co-produced by Cachaus and the Korea Daily, premiered on YouTube. This project, originally reported on in the September 9 edition of the Korea Daily, was filmed at the newspaper’s Los Angeles headquarters and spanned roughly six hours.

The debut mixset features DJ TFTI, a member of the Cachaus crew, blending K-pop with drum and bass in a 30-minute set. TFTI, whose real name is Angel Sok (27), is of Filipino and Cambodian descent and serves as both the leader of the Cachaus crew and the executive producer of this recording.

A crew of about 16 people participated in the production, recreating a newsroom setting for the shoot. Director Jonah Pamintuan (27) shared, “It was exciting to film in a newsroom, something I grew up watching in ‘Spider-Man’ cartoons.” He added, “Although I didn’t know how an actual newsroom operates, I used my imagination to create the set, asking the actors to perform tasks like reading newspapers or making phone calls.”

Seunghoon Lee, head producer of Electrik Seoul, contributed props to the production after hearing about the mixset shoot. “It’s refreshing to film a mixset in a newspaper office,” he said. “Unlike live events, online releases allow us to introduce K-pop to a much broader audience.”

Going forward, the Korea Daily and Cachaus plan to release a new DJ mixset each week. Upcoming episodes will feature 30 to 40-minute sets from DJs B., Jazzy J, and Jayv.

Executive Producer Angel Sok expressed his vision for future shoots in locations related to Korean culture. “We’re seeing significant interest in K-pop mixsets from Southern California,” Sok said. “I want to continue creating content that connects more people with the diverse aspects of Korean culture.”
