Samsung Electronics announced Thursday that its smartphone users can now add their International Student Identity Card (ISIC) to their Samsung Wallet.
The Samsung Wallet application needs to be updated to the latest version, and users can add the card on the mobile ID tab.
The holder’s name, birthdate, validity period and university name will be shown on the digital version of the student ID. A QR code that can be scanned to verify student status will also be shown.
ISIC is accepted as an official identity card for student status verification in 114 countries. Showing the ID allows students to get discounts from venues and services worldwide, such as The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the airport express train at Incheon International Airport.
The ISIC Association has been issuing student IDs since 1953, with 56,000 new IDs issued in Korea in 2022.
