Helen Hong, an attorney for the California Department of Civil Rights, has been reappointed to the California Civil Rights Commission by Governor Gavin Newsom. The announcement was made on February 13.
Upon receiving Senate confirmation, Hong will serve another four-year term as a commissioner.

The California Civil Rights Commission, consisting of seven members, oversees major civil rights policies in the state and conducts hearings when necessary.
Hong has served on the commission since 2021. She previously held the position of Executive Director at CalBA Connect. She is a graduate of UC San Diego and Loyola Law School, and she formerly served as Director of Government Affairs at UCLA.
