Gyeongnam LA Office offers subsidized travel program for non-Korean participants

Starting in March, the Gyeongnam LA Office is recruiting non-Korean participants for the program ‘Traveling in Gyeongnam for a Month.’

This initiative allows overseas Koreans and foreign individuals aged 19 or older to experience life and travel in Gyeongnam as locals, engaging in various cultural experiences in a serene environment.

“Last year, ‘Traveling for a Month in Gyeongnam’ was so popular that we had a 3 to 1 competition rate,” said Youngah Lee, President of the Gyeongnam LA Office. “We allocated a special budget for a pilot program last October and have started recruiting non-Koreans in earnest from March.”

The program offers partial subsidies for services such as transportation from the airport to accommodations, lodging, and activity fees for participants staying in Gyeongnam for six days or more.

Participants are allowed a stay ranging from five to 29 nights, with daily accommodation costs set at 50,000 won ($38) and activity expenses ranging from 70,000 to 100,000 won ($53-76).

“With 18 counties in Gyeongnam and numerous tourist spots like Hapcheon Haeinsa Temple, Dongpirang Village, Jinjuseong Fortress, and Gyeonghwa Station Cherry Blossom Street, we plan to expand the program next year if we receive a high number of applications,” Lee added.

Interested individuals can reach out to the Gyeongnam LA Office 30 days prior to their planned trip.
