Your Dinner Might Explode: The “Hidden Hazard” Behind the Granitestone Diamond Recall
Check your cabinets immediately: that stylish blue pan you bought at Costco might be a kitchen hazard in disguise. A massive Granitestone Diamond Recall has been issued for approximately 740,000 sauté pans sold through major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Costco. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) warned on April 2nd that these popular pans pose a significant risk of impact and burn injuries to unsuspecting home cooks.
The “Popping” Problem: Why the Recall?
The issue stems from a structural flaw in the Granitestone Diamond Recall items—specifically the 10-inch and 11.5-inch “Pro Blue” Sauté Pan set. New York-based importer E Mishan & Sons reported that the metal caps on the screws connecting the handle to the pan can detach and “pop off” with force when heated.
So far, the company has confirmed 98 incidents of these metal caps flying off, with at least one report of a consumer suffering from bruising and burns. If your pan starts making strange noises on the stove, it’s not the food—it’s a potential safety risk.
