Grace Yoo, a candidate for the Los Angeles City Council District 10 seat, has received a significant endorsement from John Chiang, the former California State Treasurer.

Yoo’s campaign announced last week that Chiang, a distinguished Chinese-American politician with a history of service as a member of the California State Board of Equalization for 10 years until 2007, and later as Controller until 2015 and Treasurer until 2019, has officially declared his support.

Chiang, known for his collaborations with leading Democratic Korean-American politicians, emphasized the need for accountable leadership. “We need a courageous leader who will hold government accountable while putting constituents’ needs first. Grace is that leader,” Chiang stated, underscoring his support for Yoo.

“I am deeply honored to receive John Chiang’s endorsement,” Yoo responded. “With this support, I am even more committed to winning the election and contributing to the political empowerment of Asian Americans.”

In addition to Chiang’s endorsement, Yoo has garnered support from prominent minority political leaders, including former Congressman Mike Honda, celebrated for his advocacy on behalf of the Korean community, and former L.A. City Councilman Bernard Parks.

This broad base of support highlights Yoo’s appeal across diverse communities and her commitment to inclusive leadership.
