A Korean American business leader will make history this week as the first person of Korean descent to assume the role of chair of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber announced on Monday that Andy Park, a managing partner at Ernst & Young LLP, will be officially installed as chair at its annual inauguration ceremony on February 5. He is the first Korean American to hold the position in the organization’s history.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Park currently oversees Ernst & Young operations across the Western United States and Hawaii, managing approximately 2,500 employees. He has worked closely with business leaders throughout the Los Angeles region for more than two decades.
Park earned his degree in accounting from the University of Washington and has been actively involved in civic and nonprofit leadership. He serves on the board of the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and is also a board member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as the first Korean American chair of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce,” Park said in an interview. “I am deeply grateful to my parents, who sacrificed so much as immigrants to give me these opportunities.”
The inauguration ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on February 5 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel.
