Candice Cho, a Korean-American attorney and commissioner on the LA Human Relations Commission, has had her term extended for an additional four years.
Cho was initially appointed as the commissioner by Mayor Karen Bass last year. Following the mayor’s decision on July 29, she will continue serving until June 2028.
Born in San Francisco, Cho received a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University, and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School.
Cho served as the chief legal advisor on immigration for New York City, where she wrote sanctuary city laws and advised on impact litigation to protect immigrant New Yorkers during the Trump Administration.
She was also the chief of staff for a NYC commission updating the city’s constitution, whose proposals to increase democratic participation in local government were approved by the voters.
