On 8th, many Americans panicked as Donald Trump won over Hillary Clinton and became the 45th U.S. president.
During the evening, as the possibility of Trump’s win became higher, Canada’s immigration website crashed. The site is the official website that CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) runs, and it introduces help for how to immigrate to Canada or how to apply for Canadian citizenship.
According to the press, starting from 10:30PM, the website received significantly high traffic, and as it continued, the website went completely down.
Also, on Google last night, the search of “How to immigrate to Canada” went high all of a sudden.
Before the election, ‘Cape Breton’ Island, which is a small island located in Canada’s north Nova Scotia, had said as a joke that they would provide shelter for Americans if Trump becomes the president.
This island also wrote on their official website saying, “Cape Breton if Donald Trump Wins”. Meanwhile, it is known that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also been shown a critical attitude towards Trump.
