Buena Park’s “K-pop Dance Night,” held on July 17 at Boisseranc Park, attracted a crowd of over 700 attendees.
The event was part of the city’s summer park concert series, which runs every Wednesday from July 3 to August 7. This marks the first time Buena Park has organized an event centered around K-Pop.
Susan Sonne, the mayor who proposed the “K-pop Dance Night,” attended the event along with Vice Mayor Joyce Ahn, Councilmember Art Brown, and officials from the city’s Community Services Department. Mayor Sonne also delivered a speech to kick off the event.

She said that Buena Park is home to a diverse cultural community, and many residents attend the park concert series to experience different kinds of music. She added that she thought it was essential to introduce K-pop, which is currently very popular, to residents.
The event featured performances by six dance teams based in Los Angeles: Shero, M.A.D Kids, Nolimits, Shest4r, Hush Crew, and Team RKMC. They showcased various K-pop dance performances, random dance plays, and flash mob dances involving young audience members.
The crowd cheered and applauded covers of hit songs by K-pop idols such as Blackpink, aespa, Sistar, LE SSERAFIM, TWICE, and SEVENTEEN. Some attendees were so excited that they joined in the dancing.
Vice Mayor Joyce Ahn noted, “We saw many Korean Americans who typically don’t attend our park concerts. The city is particularly pleased with the diverse group of young people who love K-pop. It’s important to increase the participation of the next generation in our park concerts.” She added, “Mayor Sonne was very satisfied with the event and mentioned plans to hold more in the future.”
