Blackpink will paint the United States pink to celebrate its seventh anniversary.
The girl group’s agency YG Entertainment announced online and offline events on Tuesday, exactly seven years after the girl group debuted on Aug. 8, 2016.
Online, Blackpink exams were released Tuesday on Weverse in English, Korean and Japanese. The test, titled “Blackpink Exploration Section,” features questions from listing different Blackpink albums’ release dates to the type of flower its member Jennie receives on her birthday from her mom. Answers to the exam will be revealed at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Images celebrating the girl group’s anniversary will be featured on 76 different screens at Secaucus Junction Station in New Jersey, and a video that looks back on the seven-year journey of Blackpink will also be shown in major U.S. cities on Tuesday local time, including in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Secaucus Junction Station is located near the Metlife Stadium, where the quartet will perform a two-day encore concert on Friday and Saturday.
Starbucks in Korea and eight other nations in Asia will have special anniversary Blackpink stickers given to customers purchasing Blackpink-collaborated drinks, cakes and merchandise on Tuesday.
More content celebrating the anniversary will be announced soon, according to the agency.
“We always thank our fans who’ve been sending us unwavering support throughout the years,” Blackpink said in a press release.
“We can’t wait for the days we can cherish with Blinks in the future. We planned a lot of content for you to enjoy, so we hope you look forward to it.”
Blink is the girl group’s official fandom name.
Having debuted in 2016, Blackpink rose to global popularity, releasing hit tracks such as “Boombayah” (2016), “As If It’s Your Last” (2017) “Ddu-du Ddu-du” (2018), “Kill This Love” (2019) and more. The girl group became the first Korean female act to top Billboard’s main chart in 2022 with its second full-length album, “Born Pink,” and its official YouTube channel currently has 90.5 million subscribers, the highest number for any artist on YouTube.
The agency did not announce whether the company extended exclusive contracts with the four members of Blackpink.
