Blackpink met with 2.11 million fans worldwide during the last year, a number filled with many firsts and bests that the bandmates saw as the rightful queens of K-pop.
Blackpink has put on 66 performances in 34 cities ever since kicking off its “Born Pink” world tour in October last year, filling a total of 1.8 million seats during the run. The quartet wrapped up the tour with two concerts in Seoul on Saturday and Sunday at western Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome, becoming the first K-pop girl group to fill one of Korea’s largest music venues.
It was also the first time for a K-pop girl group to perform at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, San Francisco’s Oracle Park and the Dodger Stadium in the United States, as well as the first K-pop female act to hold two-day concerts at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey and the Foro Sol music venue in Mexico City.
The Etihad Park performance in Abu Dhabi was the first for any K-pop group, while the Riyadh BLVD International Festival Site in Saudi Arabia was taken by a girl group for the first time for any girl group in the world.
Adding that with the 250,000 fans, Blackpink performed in front of for the 2023 Coachella Music Festival and the 65,000 fans at the Hyde Park British Summer Time (BST) Festival, the number comes in at 2,115,000 fans in total, according to the group’s agency YG Entertainment.
The girl group now awaits the news of whether all four members will renew their contracts with the agency YG Entertainment as the seven-year contracts have come to an end.
The group won’t disband even if members leave the agency, but bringing all of the members together under the Blackpink name may become difficult in the future if individual artists are managed by different companies.
