AT&T and Verizon to waive call and data charge for storm impacted areas

In response to the recent severe winter storm in Southern California, phone companies are providing customers some relief.

AT&T has announced that from February 6 to 15, it will waive overage charges and provide unlimited calls, texts, and data for customers in specified counties severely hit by the storm in counties including LA, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura, where numerous damage was reported during the historic rainfall. Qualifying zip codes can be found on the AT&T website.

Similarly, Verizon is offering waived calls, texts, and data from February 4 to 13 for both prepaid and postpaid customers and small businesses. Eligible prepaid products include Straight Talk, Tracfone, Total by Verizon, Simple Mobile, Safelink, Walmart Family Mobile, Verizon Prepaid, Net10, GoSmart, and Page Plus. Usage waiver will apply to postpaid and small business customers in LA, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

Both AT&T and Verizon assure customers that credits for waived charges will be automatically applied, with no action required from the customers’ side.
