A recent survey by Pew Research Center found that 40% of Asian voters supported President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
The survey analyzed voting patterns from the 2016 to 2024 elections, covering 8,942 adults nationwide aged 18 and older. Results showed that in the 2024 election, 57% of Asian voters backed former Vice President Kamala Harris, while 40% supported Trump.
In comparison, during the 2020 election, 70% of Asian voters supported former President Joe Biden, while 30% voted for Trump. This indicates that Trump’s support among Asian voters increased by 10 percentage points over four years.
Pew Research Center analyzed that President Trump gained more diverse racial support in the 2024 election than in the 2016 or 2020 elections.
In addition to Asian voters, 48% of Hispanic voters supported Trump in the 2024 election, up from 36% in 2020. Among Black voters, 15% voted for Trump, marking an 8 percentage point increase from four years prior.
Support for Trump also rose among immigrants who obtained U.S. citizenship. In the 2024 election, 51% of naturalized citizens supported Harris, while 47% backed Trump, resulting in a nearly even split. By contrast, in 2020, 59% supported Biden, and 38% supported Trump, a 21 percentage point gap.
Among Asian immigrants with U.S. citizenship, Trump’s support rose from 35% in 2020 to 46% in 2024, an 11 percentage point increase.
By gender, both men and women showed higher support for Trump in 2024 compared to 2020. In 2020, 50% of men and 44% of women voted for Trump. In 2024, these numbers rose to 55% for men and 46% for women.
By age group, voters aged 18–64 showed a slight increase in support for Trump between 2020 and 2024. However, among voters aged 65 and older, Trump’s support decreased slightly from 52% in 2020 to 51% in 2024.
Despite Trump’s voter base becoming more racially diverse compared to his previous elections, it remained less racially diverse than Harris’ supporters. His voter base was also older and less likely to hold a four-year college degree.
