Earlier this year, the gourmet Michelin Guide announced that they’re working on the first Michelin Guide for Seoul, which will be the 28th edition of the international Guide. As Michelin’s announcement of Seoul’s culinary destinations is nearing, excitement and curiosity for the list is also increasing day by day.
A week prior to the announcement on November 7, the Michelin Guide announced the Bib Gourmand selection, which is a list of restaurants recognized with quality food at moderate prices.
Although not starred, these more affordable restaurants would typically serve a delectable meal within a fixed price range–€35 in most European cities, US$40 in American cities, Y5,000 in Tokyo and ₩35,000 in Seoul.
The announced list highly emphasizes Korean food. There are only four non-Korean restaurants listed on the Bib Gourmand Seoul, namely, Bua (Thai), Subaru (Japanese), Italyjae (Italian), and Tuktuk Noodle Thai (Thai). On the other hand, selected Korean restaurants display repeated menu, such as mandu, maengmyun, and kal-guksu.
