Grocery Store Satisfaction: Trader Joe’s Breaks Tie With Publix in 2026

Trader Joe’s has been selected as the highest-rated grocery store, surpassing Publix in the latest grocery store satisfaction survey.

According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index(ACSI)’s 2026 grocery store satisfaction survey, Trader Joe’s received a score of 86 out of 100, ranking first. In the previous year’s survey, Trader Joe’s and Publix were tied for the top spot, but this year Trader Joe’s moved ahead after its score increased by 2 percent.

Publix recorded a score of 84, the same as last year.

The survey evaluated 19 major grocery retailers. ACSI assessed satisfaction based on consumers’ actual shopping experiences, including checkout speed, store hours and location convenience, the quality and freshness of meat and produce, store layout, and cleanliness.

Aldi, Costco, and Whole Foods tied for fifth place, while Target ranked eighth, placing them within the top 10. Walmart and Albertsons scored 75 and 74, ranking 17th and 18th, respectively. Giant Eagle, a regional chain in the eastern and Midwestern regions, recorded 73, the lowest score in the survey.
