A low-income mixed-use housing complex is planned near the Wilshire/Crenshaw Metro area adjacent to Koreatown, according to a recent notice from the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council.

The development site is a parcel currently used for construction related to the Los Angeles Metro D Line extension, and Abode Communities has been selected as the developer for the project.
The complex, named Walnut Crossing, will be built on the southwest corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard. Plans call for multiple interconnected seven-story residential buildings with a total of 196 units, consisting of one- to three-bedroom apartments. Two of the units will be reserved for on-site apartment managers.
The ground floor will include commercial space, while underground parking will be provided. Upon completion, the project will feature 4,540 square feet of community space, 1,500 square feet of retail space, 14,700 square feet of open space, and 6,500 square feet of office space. Parking will be available for 135 vehicles.
Abode Communities said it plans to preserve existing trees along the southern edge of the site and add new landscaping to create visual separation from nearby single-family homes and multifamily residences. The developer also stated that building spacing, lower-level design, and exterior materials were selected to maintain harmony with the surrounding historic preservation area.
Rents will be set in accordance with low-income housing standards for households earning 30% to 60% of Area Median Income (AMI). Based on 2025 income guidelines, this corresponds to four-person households earning between $40,950 and $90,900 annually.
Architectural design for the project is being handled by Konning Eizenberg Architecture, with Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) and TMC Community Capital participating as partners.
