Tesla free charging is now being offered to drivers who trade in gas or hybrid vehicles, as automakers roll out new incentives following the end of the federal EV tax credit program.

According to the company, Tesla has launched a “free Supercharger charging promotion” for consumers who replace an internal combustion engine vehicle with a Tesla electric vehicle. The offer provides 2,000 miles of free Supercharger use when a customer trades in a gasoline or hybrid car for a new Tesla. The promotion may change or end early.
The benefit is available only to new-vehicle customers of Tesla and comes with three conditions: requesting an instant quote for the current vehicle online, applying the trade-in value when ordering a new Tesla, and handing over the existing vehicle when the new car is delivered.
The free charging miles are valid for two years from the vehicle delivery date. They cannot be transferred, extended, or redeemed for cash. Fees such as any “congestion fee” that may arise during Supercharger use are charged separately.
The promotion does not apply to used Tesla vehicles or business-to-business (B2B) fleet transactions. If the trade-in is not properly completed, the free miles may be revoked.
The actual value of the free charging miles has not been disclosed. It can vary by region, driving habits, and driving conditions.
More detailed terms and conditions are available on the company’s trade-in webpage (tesla.com/tradein).
