A 21-year-old Los Angeles man was sentenced to more than four years in prison after attempting to force a woman into prostitution along the Figueroa Corridor, according to the LA County District Attorney’s Office.
The office said on November 17, 2025, that Fabian Gilbert (21) received a 16-month state prison sentence, which will run consecutively to a prior three-year prison term imposed in a separate February 2024 carjacking case.
Prosecutors said Gilbert pleaded no contest on November 4 to one felony count of pandering by encouraging another person to become a prostitute. He was sentenced on November 6 in the unrelated carjacking case.
According to the DA’s Office, Gilbert was arrested on December 27, 2024, after police officers observed him follow a woman near Figueroa Street and 104th Street and aggressively tell her to perform sex work for him.
District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said the sentence reflects his office’s commitment to combating human trafficking. He called human trafficking “a multi-billion-dollar business that is essentially modern-day slavery,” and said the county will take a multi-pronged approach to prosecute traffickers and pimps, target the “Johns” who buy sex, and connect sex workers with counseling resources. He thanked prosecutors and law enforcement partners for their work on the case.
Prosecutors said Case 24CMCF02114 was handled by Deputy District Attorney Destiny Ramsey and investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
