The Marin County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Susan Y. Jung on October 30. The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. on October 29 near the intersection of 2nd Street and A Street, the San Rafael Police Department said.

Police reported that Jung was walking within a marked crosswalk when a vehicle traveling southbound made a left turn and struck her. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officers stated that alcohol or drug use is not suspected.

Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation into the collision. Nearby roads were closed for about three hours following the incident, and authorities said the inquiry could take several months.

Jung was a resident of San Rafael. This was the second pedestrian death in the city’s downtown area since September 20, when a woman in her 70s was fatally struck while crossing a crosswalk, according to the San Rafael Police Department.
