Jamison Services has completed a Koreatown apartment project at 738 S. Normandie Ave., delivering a seven-story, 44-unit building that marks the first new construction in the Normandie-Mariposa Historic District since the 1930s.

The development includes 44 studio and one-bedroom apartments and five units reserved for extremely low-income tenants with rents for market-rate homes listed from $1,894 to $2,470. The property provides a 25-space underground garage.
According to Urbanize LA, early plans unveiled in 2019 drew neighborhood appeals to the Los Angeles City Council’s Planning and Land Use Management Committee over a modern exterior that neighbors said clashed with nearby 1920s–1930s structures.
The Los Angeles Department of City Planning upheld project approvals, and Jamison Services subsequently revised the façade, replacing blue metal panels and white cement finishes with brick and brown stone to better reflect the district’s character.
Project architect DFH Architects said the redesign followed the U.S. Department of the Interior’s standards for treatment of historic properties.
Jamison Services also holds a separate approval from 2021 for a similar 44-unit apartment project on Mariposa, though that effort has not advanced.
