New Jersey Doctor Resigns After Remarks on Charlie Kirk’s Death

An Asian American doctor in New Jersey resigned after allegations that he made inappropriate remarks about the death of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA. The case comes amid a series of disciplinary actions against individuals accused of mocking Kirk’s death.

According to the New York Post and Fox News, on September 10, Lexi Kuenzle, a 33-year-old nurse at Englewood Health, claimed that Matthew Jung, a doctor at the hospital, made comments about Kirk’s death in front of colleagues and patients. Kuenzle said, “Mocking a death in front of patients and colleagues was shocking.” She reported the incident to hospital officials and later posted about it on social media.

Kuenzle stated that the following day she was suspended after a meeting with the hospital’s human resources team. She then filed a lawsuit against both Englewood Health and Matthew Jung, alleging that she was treated unfairly due to her religious beliefs.

Englewood Health issued a statement confirming that it had “accepted the physician’s resignation” after an internal investigation. The hospital added that Kuenzle would continue her scheduled shifts, clarifying that “the nurse was never fired and will not lose any pay.” The hospital emphasized its commitment to ensuring that “all employees are respected in the workplace.”

Matthew Jung has avoided media contact, and references to him have been removed from the hospital’s website.
