Grand opening set for September 25 at Ravenswood 101 Shopping Center
Nongshim Group’s retail subsidiary Mega Mart will celebrate the grand opening of its Palo Alto store on September 25, marking the company’s largest location in Northern California and one of the biggest Korean supermarkets in the Bay Area.
The new 50,000-square-foot store will feature a wide range of Korean groceries, K-beauty products, a bakery, Korean food takeout corner, dining space, and coffee bar. Designed to provide a one-stop shopping and dining experience, the store aims to cater to the growing demand for Korean food and culture in Silicon Valley.
Mega Mart Palo Alto is opening at 1775 E. Bayshore Road, inside the Ravenswood 101 Shopping Center—the area’s largest retail hub. The site formerly housed a Target store that closed last year. The shopping center is anchored by major retailers including Nordstrom Rack, Home Depot, Starbucks, and Office Depot, making it a key commercial destination in East Palo Alto.
Unlike traditional supermarket layouts, the Palo Alto store introduces a one-way shopping flow system to improve customer convenience while enhancing alcohol management and theft prevention.
The store will employ around 100 staff members at launch and plans to hire a total of 150 new employees, contributing to local job growth.
Since opening its first U.S. store in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2010, Mega Mart has steadily expanded. After achieving profitability in 2019, the company opened additional stores in Sunnyvale and Fremont, with a Dublin, California location currently in development.
