Local Maryland outlets WMAR and WGAL reported on September 11 that the court ruled Kevin Hyun Ahn (31) will undergo further psychiatric evaluation under the Maryland Department of Health. He will remain under state supervision until his next hearing on January 8, 2026.

According to prosecutors, Ahn strangled his mother, Hyun Ahn (61), in March and left her body in a vehicle. He was later arrested in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. After his arrest, investigators discovered the bodies of Yong Kim (70) and Soonduck Im (83) inside his mother’s home in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Ahn was indicted on two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault in connection with the couple’s deaths. Authorities concluded the case was homicide based on belt marks, the position of the bodies, and conditions inside the house.

Prosecutors said Ahn has not yet been indicted in the case involving his mother’s death.
