The Shalom Center, a nonprofit approved by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), announced it will host a counseling event on August 23 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Korean American Federation of Orange County (9876 Garden Grove Blvd., Garden Grove). The event will be held in partnership with several nonprofit organizations.

The program is designed to assist homeowners at risk of foreclosure by offering free legal and housing counseling. Mortgage lenders and nonprofit groups specializing in housing and rental issues will provide direct help so that homeowners do not lose their properties due to repayment difficulties.

Through one-on-one counseling, participants will receive personalized solutions, including repayment plans, loan modifications, extensions, or interest reductions. Counselors will also help communicate with lenders and guide clients through lender-specific relief programs.

Renters will also have access to free legal counseling on issues such as rent increases, deposit disputes, eviction notices, poor housing conditions, lease violations, conflict resolution, and discriminatory treatment.

The event will provide information on programs offered by city, county, state, and federal agencies. It will also assist residents in filing complaints if moratorium protections have been violated.

Jee Lee, President at Shalom Center, said, “We are hosting this event to ensure that residents in crisis can receive timely expert assistance to protect their homes, and renters can maintain stable housing. We hope many people will take this opportunity to receive practical help.”

The event is free. Pre-registration is available through the event website.
