Hyeji Kang, a Korean American actuary, has been appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Allianz Commercial, a global division of Allianz Group. The company announced on July 21 that Kang will officially assume the role on October 1.
Kang will oversee the global financial operations of both Allianz Commercial and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS). She joined AGCS in 2015 as Chief Actuary for the Americas, later advancing to Global Head of Actuarial, Global Head of Reinsurance and Catastrophe Risk Management, and Global Head of Performance Management across AGCS and Allianz Commercial. Since March 2023, she has served as CFO of Allianz Re, managing its financial division.
Before joining Allianz, Kang held various roles in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and actuarial consulting. She holds a degree in Economics from Seoul National University and is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) in the United States.
Allianz Commercial is a core business segment within Allianz Group, specializing in mid- to large-sized corporate and specialty risk insurance. The company provides coverage across sectors such as global aviation, shipping, energy, infrastructure, and film production. Operating in more than 200 countries, it reported approximately $19.5 billion in gross written premiums in 2023.
