On June 26, Bayern Munich uploaded a post to its official Instagram introducing The Korea Daily, which has long conveyed the history of the Korean American community in Los Angeles.

The club described Koreatown as “one of the communities in LA with the deepest sense of identity, pride, and history,” and introduced it as “a place built by generations who worked diligently and passionately.”

The post included five photos. It featured an Asian model wearing a Bayern Munich jersey draped in the Korean flag against the backdrop of the LA downtown skyline, taking a newspaper from The Korea Daily stand, and reading The Korea Daily newspaper, presenting the history and identity of Koreatown through these images.

This feature is part of Bayern Munich’s “American Exploration” project carried out while the team is in the US for the Club World Cup. The project introduces local cultures and communities to soccer fans worldwide. Alongside LA Koreatown, it has featured Go-go music in Washington, DC, and Hamtramck, a multicultural city in Detroit.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich is the club of Min-Jae Kim, a defender for the Korean national team, and has advanced to the Club World Cup quarterfinals. On July 5 at 9 a.m. (Pacific Time), they will face Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), featuring Lee Kang-In, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for a spot in the semifinals.
